Cthulhu + Anime = Cthulhutech

In some sense, I’m surprised I don’t see this used more often. Old, terrible horrors beyond human comprehension coming from beyond space and time – Cthulhu and the rest of the the Lovecraft pantheon of monsters would make a great foil to any superheroic team. Anyways, in Cthulhutech they’ve crossed this with the anime action of Evangelion – humanity resorting to giant robot research projects, harnessing powers of things we really don’t know and skirting at the edge of humanity for the sake of the survival of humanity. After all, mixed messages in culture about victory at any cost, by any means. We’re encouraged to try our hardest, and push back when we’re being crushed…but no one likes to talk about the boundary when we start thinking about consequences. Be all you can be…but what of those crushed in your wake?

I guess decisions aren’t tough if they actually have an answer. It’ll be interesting to see how “the Last War” plays out…although the website seems to imply that there’ll be a good number of books for the story. Neverending story of the End times, it looks like…
